Q Channel: let your customers write your content

Coming up with content for a website is a slog. Q Channel turns the questions customers already ask into pages that get found.

Writing content for your own website is one of those jobs that never quite reaches the top of the list. Partly because it takes time, and partly because sitting down to invent something to say is genuinely hard.

Q Channel sidesteps that entirely, by getting your customers to do the hard part.

How it works

Visitors to your site are invited to ask a question. Anything at all — whether something is in stock, whether it fits, how a product works, how long delivery takes. The sort of thing people currently ring up or email about, one at a time.

Every question lands in one place. That alone is worth having: instead of checking the website, the inbox, and two or three social accounts, you log into one screen and everything anybody has asked is waiting there.

The bit that earns its keep

When you answer somebody, the answer goes back to them — and you can also choose to publish that question and answer on your site.

Do that a few dozen times and you have a proper frequently-asked-questions section, written in the exact words your customers use rather than the words you would have guessed at. That matters for search, because the phrasing people type into Google is the phrasing they used when they asked you.

And if one person has asked it, others are searching for it. Every answer you publish is a page that can be found by somebody who never thought to ask.

Who it suits

  • Shops selling anything with compatibility, sizing or fitting questions
  • Businesses answering the same handful of questions over and over by phone
  • Anyone who knows they should publish more and never finds the time
  • Sites with a thin content problem that no amount of rewriting the About page will fix

Ask us whether Q Channel suits your business. It does not suit every one, and we will say so if it does not fit yours.
